Craft Guild launches Lunch Club

Written by: Katie Imms
The Craft Guild of Chefs launched its Lunch club initiative this week (15 October), at Galvin La Chapelle, London.

The monthly event provides a unique opportunity for chefs
 and foodservice professionals to
 get together, enjoy a
 meal in a top London
restaurant, and share best practice with industry peers.

It is also an excellent chance for upcoming chefs to gain first-hand insight from those with long-standing experience in catering.

Craft Guild chairman Andrew Bennett, commented: “We are delighted with the launch of our very first lunch club.

“With many influencers around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had the chance to meet new people, which could potentially be a great advantage to them and their business.

“The Craft Guild of Chefs Lunch club is a perfect opportunity for industry goers to engage with one another on a regular basis, and have a delicious meal at the same time. I highly recommend booking into one.”

The Lunch club will take place at a different London-based restaurant each month, with plans to expand across the UK once established.

Attendee, pastry chef consultant Sarah Hartnett said: “What a great way to start the week - excellent food and the chance to talk with fellow chefs about what is happening within our industry and how it affects them.

‘It's important to listen to the junior chefs in the industry, to learn what challenges they face and see what we can do to make it a better workplace for them. Roll on the next event."

Chris Galvin and his team at Galvins Restaurants were ‘honoured’ to cater for such highly-esteemed members of the Craft Guild of Chef’s first Lunch club.

Claiming “(the lunch) caused quite a buzz in the kitchen,” Galvin praised the scheme, adding: “It is good for chefs to get talking and have time out together around the table, sharing good conversation and experiences.”

The menu comprised: pressed terrine of rabbit, ham hock and foie gras peach and hazelnut; lasagne of Dorset crab, beurre Nantais, Chateaubriand of Cumbrian beef, cep mushrooms and celeriac fondants; and a Valrhona chocolate and passion fruit ganache, banana ice cream and sesame tuile.
